Thermal Imaging

Exploratory scientific investigator could perhaps be a more accurate title for how we view a true paranormal investigator.  We see using the equipment listed on GetGhostGear.com going something like this: Take readings in your investigation location, establish a normal baseline over an extended period of time, watch data for anomalies over another extended period of time, create testable theories around average and anomalous data that could support reported experiences, test those theories.  That's it folks.  There are specific theories already in existence that do require specialized equipment to test.  One such theory discussed in great detail on GetGhostGear.com is the MADS project.

Thermal Imaging Scope/Scanner/Camera- This particular piece of equipment shows temperatures in the form of colors.  We feel that knowing as much about the environment our investigations occur in, lends us a greater possibility to notice patterns, or other explanations for any anomalies being investigated.

Most of the older thermal imaging units were looked through much the same way a video camera or a monoscope was to view the image.  Newer units have small to large displays allowing the user to basically view the results immediately on a television type screen.  Again the older units had jacks that allowed for the connection of an external separate viewing monitor.  Some of these jacks could then be used to record what images are viewed and if looking at making the investment we would highly recommend it have a recording option (most all newer models do).  The entry level price range for these meters used to get you a gray scale temperature difference view finder.  Basically you would be able to see the image you are pointing it at in different shades of black and white but with no temperature read out.  These used to start around $8,000 not to many years ago (the late 1990s-early 2000).  Some other features of the higher end or newer models will have features such as being remote controlled and on unit recording capabilities.

Current models have many added features including a full color spectrum display along with real time feedback and recording.  The price has dropped drastically on these thermal imaging units.  A few thousand dollar investment will serve you well into the future.

To Reiterate:

Exploratory scientific investigator could perhaps be a more accurate title for how we view a true paranormal investigator.  Using the scientific equipment listed on GetGhostGear.com should go something like this: Take readings in your investigation location, establish a normal baseline over an extended period of time, watch data for anomalies over another extended period of time, create testable theories around average and anomalous data that could support reported experiences, test those theories.  That's it folks.  There are specific theories already in existence that do require specialized equipment to test.  One such theory discussed in great detail on GetGhostGear.com is the MADS project (to be released soon).

We will continually be adding information to the above item as resources permit.  We have started creating some additional knowledge centers for the EMF meter and have included some links to start you on your way.  The EMF topic is just to big to capsulate into one single page.  Below are some editorials that range from our personal rants on industry issues, to more scholarly scientific journal type entries, to that of a simple opinion editorial.  We highly recommend that you start at the top and finish in that order at the bottom!  Enjoy:
